Welcome to Discover Islam, a publication dedicated to presenting the true essence of Islam.
I aim to offer a simple and authentic introduction to God, Islam, Prophets, addressing Islamic teachings, basics, and philosophy, among other topics.
While many sources online and here at Medium discuss Islam, my goal is to provide an authentic, simple, modern, and genuine understanding of this profound faith.
I firmly believe Islam is not just a religion of the past but eternal guidance for everything until the end of time. Therefore, I will cover a variety of topics that sit at the crossroads of Islam and westernisation, Islam and philosophy, Islam and modernisation, and more. I will provide references from the Quran, the authentic Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the latest research.
In this life, we are all travellers, destined to return to our Creator. This publication seeks to build a trustworthy knowledge base for those eager to learn about Islam but unsure where to find credible information.
My work here is intended to be a Sadaqah Jariyah — a form of continuous charity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him” (Sahih Muslim 1631a).
By sharing beneficial knowledge, I hope to create an enduring impact.
Unfortunately, the media often depicts Islam in a negative light, contributing to widespread misconceptions (and many people, without knowing Islam, believe it).
At Discover Islam, I strive to present Islam as the peaceful and logical way of life it truly is. My content will cover a variety of Islamic topics including the historical and cultural aspects of this beautiful religion, aiming to provide a balanced and respectful view.
Islam teaches respect and compassion for all, regardless of faith. The Quran states, “O mankind, We have created you from a single pair of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know each other” (Quran 49:13). We all are sons and daughters of Adam and Eve (peace be upon them) and we must treat each other with respect.
I uphold these values in this publication and request the readers to engage respectfully with the content and each other.
