The National Museum of Science and Technology (國立科學工藝博物館) in Kaohsiung kicked off on Friday (June 24) the “Renaissance in Motion — Immersive Light and Shadow Art Exhibition” (會動的文藝復興 沉浸式光影藝術展) in collaboration with Volvo Cars, Taiwan (VOLVO凱銳汽車), and Firenze CultureX (翡冷翠文創).

The exhibition, inaugurated by Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁), features 200 paintings by 24 Renaissance masters from 36 world-class museums and art galleries, allowing Taiwan art-lovers to discover European art without traveling abroad this summer.

Volvo Cars Chairman Jerry Lin praised the art exhibition, stressing that the word “Renaissance” is a combination “ri” (re) and “naistre” (birth) in Latin. The exhibition name also symbolizes the brand’s entry into the Kaohsiung market from April 1 this year.

Volvo Cars is committed to giving back to Taiwan society and fulfilling its social responsibility, Lin said, expressing hope that people in southern Taiwan will discover the beauty of traditional art with digital multimedia technology.

Visitors will also get a glimpse of the Swedish carmaker’s latest innovation, especially the hybrid power technology that will help power the energy transition.
