Whew. Here we are on the cusp of making it through a global, life-changing pandemic. Now what?

The long and emotionally-filled year of 2020 has come and gone, and now we firmly sit midway through 2021 with the optimism of brighter things to come and reverence for what has transpired. We certainly give thanks to the countless hours of science that has gone into curving this pandemic, while paying our respects to those who were not blessed to make it this far. Not only that, but the turmoil of our collective health and wellbeing was compounded by a long-overdue racial reckoning that started here in America, but was heard around the globe. Despite it all, if you are lucky enough to be reading these words, you made it.

Vader behooves us to believe in science, er, and the FORCE! He also finds your lack of faith disturbing. (MS Comic-Con 2018)

The Discussing Network certainly offers thanks amid these perilous times, with the hope that the work we have done over the past year or so has in some way provided a means of escape from the confines of being socially distant and emotionally drained. And while we couldn’t see each other in person, we know that every one of you was there with us, as we too tried to make sense of it all.

Personally, my overall feelings on a return to normalcy may be more aptly summed up in the form of the Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies trailer. And while I tend to generally avoid people in public settings, what 2020 has taught me more than anything is to value every human connection I make out there in the world, as nothing is guaranteed.

“The world may change and evolve, but the one thing that will never change: we’re all part of one big family. “ — Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies

As always, we thank each Patreon subscriber for being on board as we continue our journey to discuss all things geek! Each week we endeavor to produce the best show possible, as we constantly strive for that ever-so-elusive ‘perfect episode’; creating the most entertainingly informative episode is always the Prime Directive. That goes from the thought given into each word spoken to the amount of technical work put into the editing process. In the end, we aim to create value for every listener.

What suggestions do you have for the shows we produce going forward? Please send any suggestions to hosts@discussingnetwork.com. And as always, we want to hear from you.

The Discussing Network is Growing

The last twelve months have come with several surprises for the Discussing Network. First off, we’ve added several new podcasts and creators to the family! Each new member podcast comes with its own distinctly unique flavor, in turn, building out a plethora of shows that will hopefully provide the type of content that is both entertaining and informative. Rest assured, geek culture remains at the core of the Discussing Network’s mission.

Welcome to Discussing Network! Fandom Squad, Terminus, and Extremely Geek’d Out Podcast!

Fandom Squad Podcast · Subscribe

Fandom Squad is a podcast for all things fandom, including everything from science-fiction to horror — and everything in between. The host and showrunner Jeramy Wilcox brings fresh new episodes every Tuesday, focusing on guest interviews and reviews, which span a vast array of popular geek culture topics and fandoms. The podcast also includes a myriad of jokes in tow, supplementing the all-around geeky goodness. In the words of Jeramy, “Enjoy the madness!”

Terminus: A Doctor Who Podcast · Subscribe

The Terminus Podcast is a podcast showcasing a queer woman’s perspective on the classic British Sci-Fi television show, “Doctor Who”. Based in Atlanta (once known as the city of Terminus, of course!), host Nicole Mazza brings you passionate geekery that is often effusive, sometimes loquacious, but always full of love for the show.

In her episodes, you can look forward to Nicole covering both the classic and new series, as well as other forays into the so-called Whoniverse. This includes the television show’s various televisual spin-offs, as well as its numerous bits of ephemera, such as audio plays, novels, comics, and much more! (Plus, somewhat frequent gushing about such things as the classic series version of the Gallifreyan Chancellory Guard or even the oft-maligned ‘K-9 and Company’ are definite bonus topics, for example.)

So, please do check the Terminus Podcast for your dorky dose of deep discussion about all those topics — all, of course, brought to you with a fun side. Because as the Fourth Doctor said: “There’s no point in being grown-up if you can’t be childish sometimes.”

Extremely Geek’d Out Podcast · Subscribe

Extremely Geek’d Out, which is also known as EGO, is the premier podcast for geeks of both comic books and pop culture. EGO started back in 2018, with Ron Stephens currently serving as host and showrunner. In each episode, Ron discusses entertaining topics relating to all things comics.

Ron Stephens

Ron Stephens is one of the latest members of Discussing Network. You may have previously listened to Ron and his upbeat personality as one of the cohosts on Discussing Comics. Primarily you can hear Ron on his podcast Extremely Geek’d Out, or EGO for short, where he brings interesting and entertaining topics relating to all things comics. Being a podcaster is a passion of Ron’s since he produced his first episode with his hometown best friend back in 2018. Since then he has worked diligently to better himself as the editor and producer of EGO’s content.

Jeramy Wilcox

Jeramy Wilcox is a fanboy of all fandoms, with Star Wars being at the top of his list and Doctor Who coming in at a close second. Jeramy took that love for all fandoms, along with an affinity for pop culture, and poured it into the Fandom Squad Podcast, where he conducts guest interviews and reviews with industry creators and enthusiasts. In addition to podcasting, Jeramy is also a musician and an artist, both skills that he is currently leveraging to start his own multi-media production company called NerdyPunk Studios.
