The Glory Hole on Berryessa Lake is actually a spillway of Monticello Dam, it is used to dump extra overflow water from reservoir. Last winter was extremely wet, California finally received a lot of rain so it was the first time for last 10 years when the glory hole started to overflow.

The stream of water is the second spillway, that is normally used when Glory Hole is not overflowing. Glory Hole’s exit is located at the right side of the picture and is not visible because of the shape of the slope.
