Dispatch Developer Update 2 — 1/19/18
Another week in the life of a Dispatch Developer
Hitting the Scene
We started off the week strong at the World Crypto Economic Forum on Monday and Tuesday. We had a solid spread of representation. Our CMO Ivan Goldensohn and I both gave talks on marketing and emerging tech respectively. Feedback was positive, and lots of people expressed interest in working on Dispatch Dapps!
Us engineers still managed to squeeze in a good amount of tech time in between all the talks and networking 💻
Bootstrapping Nodes and Brains
Our weekly in-person meeting on Wednesday was absolutely amazing. We sync’ed up on vocabulary definitions and first deliverable goals. Since our first major milestone will be the Dispatch testnet, our initial deliverable is a node that can bootstrap itself into joining the network.
We’re addressing the issue of discovering the first node in a network. We’ve decided to use grpc as a super efficient RPC protocol because it’s almost 3x as fast as standard JSON REST. Kubernetes is configured and the next step is to insert the disgo code for execution. And we’re incorporating the use of Quantum Entropy in the generation of private keys and more. By the start of next week, we should have a node that can spin up, generate itself an identity and join an existing network.
