Let’s talk about the frustrations and challenges of experienced digital content creators, marketers, and other creatives in the creator economy.

So many less experienced people got there. They nailed it. They have thousands of followers, shares, claps, responses, and whatnot. But we don’t.

The shoemaker’s children go barefoot?

I’ve been working in digital content marketing/SEO for 10 years. I’ve been successful in business, driving traffic, leads, numbers.

But I’m struggling with doing the same thing for my ‘personal business’ in the so-called creator economy.

I know so many people who have been in the digital industry for ages. They have the necessary digital skills, are super creative, and know how to drive numbers for businesses, and yet … things don’t go so well for their own projects.

That’s been my experience, too. What the h*ck is going on?! What’s the secret?

I can’t pretend that I don’t see it. For example, I see people giving tips about blogging and writing online, although they’re bad writers, make plenty of basic mistakes, and, in my opinion, shouldn’t be examples to follow.

They’re often honest and admit that they have no experience or qualifications, but they’re doing it anyway.

But here’s an interesting part. Some of these creators have thousands of followers and talk about their impressive earnings.

I’m not saying they’re full of crap, because apparently they’re doing something right. This is what I’m interested in.

They may be good entrepreneurs. They may be great at spotting trends and opportunities. Something works for them.

That said, I’m not angry at creators with no digital marketing or writing experience or qualifications. Experience and qualifications are not everything.

I may be angry at myself because I can’t crack the code, or something invisible (?) is stopping me from putting myself out there.

‘That should be me’, the poor little me is thinking, ‘I’ve been working in the digital space for years!’.

But frankly, I don’t want to blame anyone. It doesn’t make sense, and it won’t help.

Instead, I want to get better at this, whatever it is. I may know a lot about digital marketing and driving organic traffic and leads, but I still have so many things to figure out when it comes to operating in the creator economy. It’s a new learning experience for me.

I want to use this space to explore this topic to better understand the frustrations, challenges, and limitations that people like myself are coping with.

I’m sure there’s a way out. I’m also sure that having a massive digital marketing experience is not an obstacle but a big, big asset.
