Octahedron is a New Neon Trance Vertical Action Platformer
Indie development studio Demimonde seems destined for the bright lights. Not only is Octahedron a bright new cross-platform vertical action platformer with colourful neon-style graphics and an electronica soundtrack. But the one-made studio is also releasing their game through the Square Enix Collective which helps with publishing, marketing and other services.
It’s due for release on March 20th, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. And you’ll need to create your own platforms in order to progress through the 2D world. The levels are experienced in 60 frames-per-second action, supported by the trace influenced music.
Developer Marco Guardia has contributed some of his own tracks from his time as one half of Swiss trance act Fluctlicht. And he’s join by video game composer Chipzel, trance producers Andre Sobota and Derek Howell, and others.
Apparently the game has already gone beyond those obsessed with electric neon graphics and trance music when it was on show as a playable demo at EGX towards the end of 2017.
“Octahedron brings together two of my greatest loves; video games and music,” offers Guardia. “I’ve been making electronic music and working in sound engineering for a long time, and bringing that experience to the work I do today is something truly special. It’s also been genuinely exciting to see players of all ages — some of whom wouldn’t necessarily be into trance music or even 2D platformers — really get to grips with the fast-paced action right in front of my eyes at events like EGX. It has highlighted to me that Octahedron’s appeal is broader than even I’d anticipated.”
It’s not long until Octahedron is released on March 20th, but in the meantime, you can check out this new trailer to see if it’s something you might want to try out.
