Disspoken is the site that people with invisible conditions and those who care for us need.

Invisible conditions are everywhere. Your classmate with special needs, the workmate who can’t show up every day, the cousin you never knew was depressed. Living with a condition is normal.

But when people can’t see your condition or disability, everyday life can come with a string of insults: “Look at you, you’re fine. You can talk, you can get out of bed, you can hide it. What you have isn’t a real disability.”

But as the wise phrase goes, your suck does not make my suck suck less. Disspoken speaks truth to:

  • Society
  • We who have invisible conditions
  • The people who love us
  • The organisations made for us, who so often exclude us from their operations and take advantage of us for money and prestige

And above all, things don’t have to suck. The truth is that we can manage life, with a little help from a community that knows how we work. Disspoken provides that knowledge in a few entertaining and shareable minutes.

My name is Peter Matthews, I live a happy life with conditions and I made this site so you can too.

Our mission is to improve your life, and that means telling the whole raw truth.

I was never meant to write articles. Or read, or even talk. Now I help others who were told they never could, and have a beautiful time doing it.
