Board approves new assistant superintendent

Mrs. Melissa Murphy will be the new Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services beginning in the 2019–20 School Year. Mrs. Murphy will replace Faith Dahlquist who accepted an Associate Superintendent position in Oswego 308 after eight years of service in District 200.

Mrs. Murphy’s hire represents a coming home for her. After a short tenure in Valley View District 365U, Mrs. Murphy began teaching in District 200 in 2001 and then served as a Curriculum Leader from 2006–09. Following her time in District 200, Mrs. Murphy served as a Principal in North Palos District 117 and most recently as their Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Mrs. Murphy received a B.A. in Education from the University of Northern Iowa and an M.A. in Education from Aurora University.

Superintendent Jeff Schuler welcomes Mrs. Murphy back to District 200. “Melissa will be a tremendous asset to District 200 as she returns home where she spent considerable time as a teacher and curriculum leader. She has done the work of this position at a very high level in her current position. I am confident that her experience and skill set are a strong match as we continue to deliver high-quality learning programs in District 200.”

Mrs. Murphy is equally glad to be back in District 200. “It is an honor to be selected as the next Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services in District 200. Nearly all my teaching career was within the district and I have many wonderful memories with staff and students. I’m thrilled to return to District 200 in a new role, to work with the talented team, and continue the tradition of excellence in education,” said Murphy.
