Whittier staff joined Mr. Cerny at the May 11, 2022 Board Meeting.

At their May 11 meeting, the Board approved Bob Cerny as the next Principal of Whittier Elementary. Mr. Cerny will assume his new role beginning in the 2022–23 School Year. Mr. Cerny is a familiar face in District 200 having served in the District since 1998 in a variety of roles including 21 years as Whittier’s School Psychologist, District Student Support Specialist, Director of Student Services in Virtual Academy, and most recently as Assistant Principal at Pleasant Hill Elementary. Mr. Cerny earned a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in School Psychology from Illinois State University, and an M.Ed. in Leadership and Administration from Benedictine University.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler is pleased that Mr. Cerny has accepted the new role in the District. “Bob has been a valued member of our District 200 community through the variety of roles he has served in,” said Schuler. “In addition to the time he previously spent at Whittier, he has built his leadership resume serving in a variety of roles in our District. I am excited to see how he utilizes his experiences and leadership skills as the new Principal at Whittier Elementary School.”

Mr. Cerny is looking forward to assuming a new role in the District. “I am honored and ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve as the Principal of Whittier,” said Cerny. “I look forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to support the entire Whittier school community.”
