District 200 School Community,

Today marks the end of the 2021–22 School Year in District 200 and we are ending on a high-note.

Over the past few weeks, all of our 20 schools and the Transition Program have hosted end of year celebrations, explore more days, field days, promotion ceremonies, and more. Last weekend, we graduated nearly 1,000 students from Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South High Schools. Just prior to that, four students from our Transition Program received their diplomas after completing the Project Search Program through Northwestern Medicine. Last night, as a District we recognized 59 staff members with either 15 or 25 years of service in the District as well as our 61 Class of 2022 retirees.

To me, the theme that emerges in each one of these opportunities is gratitude. I am grateful for all of the people involved at our schools — our students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members and Board Members — for serving as a positive influence and for supporting our schools. Each one of those culminating moments would not be possible without the time, passion and dedication each of you contributes to our school community.

At this week’s staff recognition event, we had some students share messages of gratitude to for staff and their thoughts on what retirement means. If you have 2 minutes, this video is worth the watch. Regardless of your role in our system, please accept these thank you’s from our students. And I hope that each one of you gets a chance this summer to rest, relax, recharge, and have some fun.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeff Schuler
Superintendent
