District 200 Community,

Yesterday, we sent a communication regarding changes in guidance regarding isolation and quarantine from CDC, IDPH and the DCHD. Our District Health Department is in regular communication with our state and local health departments. Due to the significant effects of the changes for the general public, we sought to clarify if schools were considered part of the general public and believed that we were included in the general public and communicated as such. After sending our communication, the Illinois State Board of Education issued a statement indicating that schools are not considered part of the general public and that we are to continue following previously issued IDPH Guidance for Schools. While we anticipate that IDPH and ISBE will update their guidance for schools soon, we will continue to follow the previous guidance until we have explicit updated guidance for schools.

We sincerely apologize for communicating inaccurate information to our school community. Since the start of the pandemic, we have strived to provide our families with accurate and timely information. Over the past few days, the District has received many emails from the school community asking about the start of school and if we were going to follow the new CDC, IDPH and DCHD guidance regarding isolation and quarantine. Our goal yesterday was to provide that information as that could significantly affect who could come to school on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Please know that all other aspects of the email sent yesterday including mitigations, symptom monitoring, etc. are still in place. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we continue to navigate this pandemic together.

Sincerely,

District 200
