Thanksgiving serves as a good reminder of what we are grateful for. I am grateful for a passionate community that cares about all of our students, staff and schools. In District 200, we welcome nearly 13,000 students to school each day. I value your unique and individual contributions to our learning community and promise we will continue to build a learning environment that helps you learn and grow.

I am grateful for this year’s social-emotional learning focus on relationships. Our schools are committed to making sure that each student has a meaningful, positive relationship with a trusted adult at school. We know that when students are connected to school, there is an improvement in learning and a decrease in emotional distress. School-connectedness is also one of the greatest preventative measures to keeping our schools a safe place for all students and staff to learn and grow.

I am grateful for the learning experiences our schools and teachers create each day. Through those learning experiences, students are able to take responsibility for their learning, develop a growth mindset, and build critical academic and social-emotional skills.

I am grateful for a school community that comes together to address important issues and help our students reach their highest level of learning and personal development. We have a strong system of education that is highly valued and regarded in this community. The strength of our system is not possible without all of you. I am proud of our teachers, support staff, parents, administrators, and School Board that work together to make this system strong.

Thank you, all, for everything you do to make our schools incredible places to learn and grow. I wish you all a happy and restful break.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeff Schuler, Superintendent
