At their meeting, Board President Chris Crabtree announced that the Board of Education is seeking residents who would like to be considered for appointment to fill a vacancy on the seven-member board. The board will appoint an individual to fill the remainder of the term through the Consolidated Election in April 2023.

Dr. Mary Yeboah notified the Board of Education that she will be moving out of state and will resign her seat on June 30th, thus creating the vacancy. Dr. Yeboah was elected to the board in April 2021. The School Board wishes to thank Dr. Yeboah for her service to our students, staff, and community.

In accordance with School Board Policy 2:70, the vacancy will be filled following a public vote at a School Board Meeting. The Board of Education anticipates appointing a new member at the August 24th Board of Education Meeting.

Applicants for the vacancy should complete an application and submit a letter of interest to Dianna Hutchison at Dianna.Hutchison@cusd200.org. The letter of interest should include interest in serving on the Board and any education, work history, or civic involvement that would support the application. The application is available at this link. Application materials must be received by 4 p.m Thursday, July 7, 2022. The School Board will receive all applications, review applications, and select candidates to interview on dates to be determined. Updated information will be available on the District 200 website at www.cusd200.org.

Illinois law requires a school board member to be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and District 200 for at least one year preceding board membership, and a registered voter. Board members also are subject to financial conflict-of-interest prohibitions set forth in State law.
