Dr. Mary Davis will assume a new role as principal of Jefferson Early Childhood Center beginning July 1, 2022. Dr. Davis will be replacing Mrs. Stephanie (Farrelly) Mangini who is retiring at the end of this school year after 30 years of dedicated service in District 200.

Dr. Davis began her career in District 200 in 2008 as a Special Education Teacher at Jefferson. After serving as interim principal at the school in 2012, Dr. Davis knew she wanted to pursue a leadership role in the District and was hired as a Director of Special Education in 2013. Dr. Davis earned her B.S. in Special Education, M.S.Ed in Educational Administration, and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Davis also has several endorsements including Early Childhood Special Education, English Language Learner, and Director of Special Education.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler is looking forward to Dr. Davis’ new role in the District. “Mary has a unique set of administrative and teaching experiences that perfectly align with the role at Jefferson,” says Dr. Schuler. “Additionally, she has a number of different educational credentials that also make her uniquely qualified. I look forward to working closely with Mary as we support the critical role that early learning and early childhood education plays in our community and school system.”

Dr. Davis is very excited for the new opportunity. “As a former Jefferson teacher and grateful parent of a soon-to-be Jefferson graduate, earning this position feels like going home for me,” says Dr. Davis. “I am enthusiastic to return to my roots and prepared to share my skills, passion, and love for early childhood education with the incredible District 200 community.”

Congratulations, Dr. Davis.
