Jaimeson Hamsho, 2018 Wheaton North grad, graduates from the Naval Academy.

What a timely announcement just as we recently celebrated our independence. Thank you to all those who have served so that we may enjoy our freedoms!

Jaimeson Hamsho, a 2018 graduate of Wheaton North High School, was inducted into the Naval Academy Class of 2023 on June 27 and will begin six challenging weeks of basic midshipman training as part of Plebe Summer. This dream becoming reality for Jaimeson is a testament his own grit and tenacity to pursue this goal and, as Jaimeson says, to several teachers staff members at Franklin & Wheaton North who believed in him and challenged him to be better.

Following graduation from Wheaton North, Jaimeson applied for nominations from our Congressman but, unfortunately, he did not receive an appointment to any of the Service Academies. Instead, Jaimeson attended Greystone Preparatory School at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX. He then reapplied for Congressional and Senatorial nominations and was successful in securing appointments to three US Service Academies: USMA at West Point, US Merchant Marine and the US Naval Academy. Jaimeson ultimately selected the US Naval Academy and looks forward to being an officer in the US Navy.

Approximately 1,200 candidates are selected each year for the Academy’s “plebe” or freshman class, and each student is required to participate in Plebe Summer. Last year the Naval Academy received over 16,000 applications for the Class of 2022.
