When Competitors Attack: Wendy’s/McDonald’s Edition

Apparently I’m late to the game. I discovered just this week that Wendy’s has a savage Twitter game after it trolled McDonald’s hard on its frozen beef patties.

Meanwhile, McDonald’s Twitter feed is like:

The Shamrock Shake is great, but McDonald’s missed an opportunity to respond in a way that would’ve made Wendy’s look small. Something like, “And tomorrow we’re celebrating International Women’s Day , Wendy’s! Glad you’ve found your voice.” Or: “Um, check out our fresh beef news, Wendy’s.”

Point being: In today’s digital world, a non-response is almost always a losing strategy.
