This year will see old trends take new colors and silhouettes. While upcoming trends will rise, previous trends have recycled to show their longevity in the industry. Trends featuring sheer textiles, oversized garments, and the Y2k aesthetic have seen new approaches to the execution of old styles. Fashion is cyclical. Consistently pushing the boundaries of recycled trends allows for pieces to last in your wardrobe longer. They increase longevity by altering the silhouettes of garments like trench coats, biker jackets, and suits to update old designs.

Let’s look at my favorite designers from the trending designs and patterns of 2023.

Metallics are a look that’s here to stay, designers from Diesel, Alexander McQueen, and Dion Lee have reimagined this classic look. Mostly seen in bodycon silhouettes, loose dresses, and high fashion pieces. The style has recently been updated to incorporate garments with thicker fabric, as opposed to the usual thin and sheer material.

Denim is a staple in fashion that will never go out of style. From various different washes, cuts, designs, and accessories, denim is a classic fabric that is extremely versatile. If you enjoyed 2022’s reintroduction of low-rise jeans and wide leg pants, you’ll be thrilled to see 2023’s take on denim.

The runway was once dominated by illustrious high fashion looks. Today the runway is able to see more revealing looks like sheer and nude fabrics that reveal the body with an understated approach. Although this trend has been around for some time, designers continue to alter what the garment reveals and what it conceals.

Another classic fabric that has been altered is Leather. Leather jackets have taken new form in bright colors, bulky shoulders, and leather skirts. Apart from leather being revamped a new sports trend of motocross leather jackets has appeared, sparked by musician's such as Rosalia during her albums release and promotion, Motomami.

Since the beginning of the pandemic suits have been returned time and time again with new designs and contours. In 2023 we will see more oversized suits and dramatic shoulders. These designers intend to increase the longevity of the classic suit and blazer trend.
