Amateur Fashion Shows VS High Quality

A fashion show is an event that tells a story through the designers clothing. Designers hold shows during fashion week to showcase their upcoming lines, utilizing artistic elements to strengthen the presentation of the garments. Fashion shows are released during the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons, meaning hundreds of collections get released during fashion week. The hectic schedule is almost impossible to keep up with every fashion show happening unless you’re highly determined and able to navigate the many fashion week schedules. The most notable fashion events are in New York, Paris, Milan, and London, where many large brands set the trends for that year.

You can tell when a fashion show is high quality by who is allowed entry. High quality events led by designers focus on inviting photographers, celebrities, fashion journalists, and anyone that can promote their brand. The exclusivity of a high-quality show is what sets them apart from amateur fashion shows. These shows are invitation only, meaning you can’t simply buy a ticket and attend like at an amateur show.

Amateur shows feature models with little to no runway experience and gives a lot of budding designers a chance to promote their work. These shows happen locally, showcasing community talent from designers and models, although these shows aren’t as large as the ones in New York and Paris. They still help designers gain enough publicity and recognition to receive invitations to showcase their designs in different cities and countries.

A formal fashion show run by an amateur or professional includes a theme, specific location, staging, lighting, makeup, hairstyles, and music. What elevates a show too high quality is the production, shows that feel like theatrical performances have scenery, backgrounds, curated visuals, lighting effects, live music, and even dancing.

Informal shows amongst amateurs don’t require dramatic lighting or live music, and there is typically no added theatrics to help sell the garments. Due to the simplistic nature of these shows, you can easily incorporate them into events to gain more awareness or visibility. The environment for informal events is not as exclusive, nor do models have to walk the runway in these clothes. The models can mingle with guests while wearing the product.

Painstaking work goes into high-quality fashion shows that need large teams to execute them properly. High-quality events enlist secretaries, show producers, backstage managers, stylists, casting managers, and publicity officers. Without any of these roles, Fashion Shows wouldn’t be able to move as smoothly as they do.

Amateur and high-quality fashion shows both have crucial roles. For those beginning in fashion, whether they be a model or designer. Beginner shows can give them valuable experience in their craft, helping to prepare them for the stakes of high-quality runways should they ever be invited to one. While high-quality fashion shows work with already established models and designers to ensure they sell the fantasy and the garments.
