Rare Impact Fund
Rare beauty is a makeup company that is owned by Selena Gomez, it launched in September 2020. All of their makeup products are vegan, cutlery free and some of them are easily accessible for people who have physical disabilities with built-in little pieces to help them out more. Mental health is something that affects so many people's lives around us, and while there are things being done to help and support this cause, there is still more that we could do. Selena Gomez and her team at Rare beauty are making waves with this. Another thing that she has also done is created a Rare Impact Fund which helps to increase mental health services in education settings.
The Rare Impact Fund started in August of 2021, and its sole purpose is to help put more mental health services that are easily accessible in schools for children. Their biggest goal is to raise $100 million over the following years so that they can expand their services for people everywhere. Their mission and vision according to Rare Impact Fund is to “reduce the stigma associated with mental health and provide young people with access to the resources they need.” They're making a difference in many places because they are wanting to give kids the resources that they need for mental health. Right now, one percent of the money that rare beauty makes directly to the funds in addition to several other partners involved.
Selena Gomez started this fund because it was something that she wishes she had growing up because she struggled with mental health when she was younger and still does to this day. As mentioned on Rare Impact Fund, it states that “After experiencing what felt like endless highs and lows that would take me out for a week at a time, I finally got the support I needed to better understand what I was going through.” This is her whole reason for wanting to give back so that other kids and young adults everywhere don’t have to experience that.
The foundation has teamed up with several other organizations that have the same vision of providing mental health as they do. They are also making grants to help support and give back to others out there. It states on Didihirsch, “This round of grantmaking focuses on social and emotional education, building communities of support for students, early interventions, and suicide prevention and crisis support.” They are wanting to both stop and raise awareness of mental, some of the recipients of the grant are the Jed Foundation, McLean Hospital, and The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence as well as many other groups and organizations out there.
This is something that will impact so many people everywhere because it will help bring more mental health services and advisors to people who really need them. There are so many kids out there who don’t have the money or resources to go and back to professionals to get help with their mental health and well-being. This surely makes a big impact in the long haul with their goal in mind and this will be so amazing to all of the parents and mental health advocates out there who want to make a difference. Just like it stated in the billboard article, “Rare Beauty is focused on helping people feel more connected to one another and less alone in the world. The Rare Impact Fund will make a direct impact on many lives and, ultimately, make a difference in the world.”
If we all need to come together and support this as well as other organizations out there however we can, then we will start seeing a difference in the world.
