Happy Diwali and a New Moon
Where did October go? What Happened, and What There is To Come?
I could have sworn I sent out a newsletter during October. Again and again I set the intention. Again and again it passed me by. It seems the ‘I’ who kept having those feelings changed, in rapid and undeniable sequence. So here we are, in November already, and holyday vibes are in the air.
As I write, the New Moon is about two hours away. The gifts of the dark moon are upon us, soft and deep within the womb of the Great Mother. Today is also Diwali, festival of lights, honoring the Goddess Lakshmi, whose attributes are beauty, prosperity, abundance, love, and magic. She is typically depicted sitting on a lotus flower, with gold flowing from her hands. This is such an opening. A Scorpio New Moon, providing new insights, resets, and integration of the Divine Feminine within us all.
This opening, and those that will come through Samhain and the December Solstice, create a pipeline of sorts into the gifts, talents, and abilities we are here to remember and embody. These new waves create movement, unleashing the momentum we’ve been longing to receive.
In the Dune film {which is being re-made, apparently} the concept of folding space was introduced into the mainstream. Traveling without moving. We could all use a bit of that, these days. When will we get the teleporting thing handled? Would our masks dissolve and re-materialize with us? {Haven’t they always?} Would it matter? But I digress.
The movement occurring is largely within ourselves. We morph in place, becoming more of what we truly are. We have needed to be kept still, in order for this to happen. Shifting without moving. And, as we do so, our more immediate environments shift as well. We’ve all been told, countless times, that to change a world, any world, {or maybe this one} we need to change ourselves. This is what we are experiencing. Ready or not, here it is.
Today’s festival of lights, aligned with a New Moon, and followed, with a few days, by astrological Samhain, is an opportunity to see more deeply. Why are we here? NOW? I never recommend asking this question, as it is usually the ego that answers. Nothing wrong with that, but it is the least truthful answer we’ll ever receive. However, an alignment like this one is too precious to ignore. What do you really want to know, or become? Sit with that question mark in meditation, without predicating the answer on what you want to expect, and let Source shine in.
The gifts of this season are the unexpected circumstances that toss us into the fray, onto Source’s threshing floor, and into our true alignments. Resistance is futile, so why not go with Divine flow?
