not call support from what is divine?
Does not the inner form guide the forces
that unveil and uncover its essence?
Each rose asked permission
before it is cut/harvested to grace
table/altar/vase.
Such is a balanced walk in beauty.
My world bears witness to these truths
of interconnected being.
What world will we choose, and is that choosing, true?
The ‘Indian Tree’
In a woods near where I grew up, there lived a tree that had, sometime in its lifetime, been tied into a specific shape. Its trunk was shaped a bit like the u-bend in a toilet’s innards, with a small protruberance, like an appendix, at the bottom of the bend. From that odd shape, the trunk of the tree stretched proudly upward.
My friend’s father, on whose property the tree stood, called it “the Indian tree.” Had the tree been bound to mark a trail? Was it a territorial marker? The shape was undeniably man-made. And, if…
