Launched in 2019, Coral is a pioneer in the sexual wellness market and the only sexual wellness app designed for everyone. Coral provides you with lessons on measurement, guided exercises and real stories that help you eradicate boredom in the bedroom, improve your performance and increase desire. — It helps you achieve your sexual goals, whether it be having better and more sex in your relationship or exploring your own sexuality freely.

“Thanks to a lack of sex-positive, pleasure-centric sex education, most of us have no idea how to talk about sex with our partners — much less work together to make it better,” said Coral CEO and founder Isharna Walsh. “Giving couples a safe, guided space in which to prioritize their intimate relationship was an important next step in our mission to make sexual wellness a vital part of wellbeing.”

How did it start?

Before Divisio entered the Coral project, they were starting to create a new product, still in the initial stages. The product idea had already been validated and a first round of investment was already running. The goal was to create a leading sexual self-improvement app for all humans, with innovative and inclusive multimedia content, to improve everyone’s sex life.

Coral had already launched an app as a test on the market, but the technology used was outdated. What resulted in a difficulty to evolve this project with the codes that were being used until that moment.

Then came the need to change, and to do something that really changed people’s lives in the realm of sexuality. Coral decided to ask for help and perfect this idea using the best tools and programmers for it.

To do so, the Phoenix project (codename of the new app) came up, it was a rewrite of the old app, but now, using React Native. That’s when Divisio entered the project to make a difference.

When hired to work with Coral, Divisio’s developers started working on the Fênix project from the beginning, They architected the entire project in a more modern way, and with codes and standards that would bring good results.

Challenges faced by Divisio when working on Coral’s app

  • Creating an MVP is not easy and the code that already existed in Coral can prove it. We led development to correct structural problems. An MVP was created for the Fênix project, in a short time, to offer a satisfactory experience for users. With the success of this prototype, another investment was made to improve the app.
  • Accelerated startup pace: We had to quickly integrate with their team and provide a high speed of development — without compromising Divisio’s high code quality standards. We have two different teams that now must work together to deliver a good result, but, everything went fine as expected.

Solutions used

  • In-depth revisions were made to Coral’s pre-existing code and we outlined a solid plan to resolve old limitations and bugs, as well as creating space for new features.
  • Divisio’s senior programmers joined the Coral team, at a deep and daily level to ensure fast-paced startup deliveries.
  • Coral’s business model development has been improved by developing several paid features and substantially improving the native application.

The results and how the app is now

The app has been successful and has helped more than 250,000 users to create their best intimate lives. Since January 2021, users can already enjoy the new experiences created from a lot of work, investment and effort made by the Divisio team along with Coral.

The purpose of the app is to cause:

  1. Deeper connections
  2. Enhanced pleasure
  3. Unshakable confidence

They are now at the stage of managing the project as a whole. For the past two months, the objective has been to focus more on the team and to be able to organize the processes in order to adapt in a healthier way for both teams, and be more flexible as well. The next steps are: to integrate new things to improve the development cycle.

The feature flags also assist in the creation of new tools that still need to be tested. Basically, this feature can be turned on and off at any time with more focus on the test and whether it will be really effective. In this way, Coral’s marketing team can measure the insights of how many users are using the new experience, making the relationship with users’ needs much closer.

Positive user feedbacks

“Coral showed me how to make my girlfriend’s experience 10x better after just one exercise. Five stars- can’t wait to try the rest of them.” Joshua

“Really love all that Coral has to offer — have been waiting for an app like this to come to the market. My favorite part is the “discover” feature. It’s a safe space where other users can join in on different discussions and share their stories. 10/10 recommend this app!” — Grace

“As someone who struggles with discussing some of these topics with people I was thrilled with this app. It allowed me to read and explore some of the topics I had been embarrassed about in a fun and interactive manner.” — Josh

“Love this app and what they’re solving for! The app is so easy to use and the content is really relevant. I love the way they are taking shame and fear out of sex and making it so easy for people like me to access. Game changer!!!” — Amy

How was the project for Coral and Divisio?

“Excellent work together. They can be trusted to take a scope of work and see it through. Divisio has consistently facilitated my work so I don’t need to focus on details. Not only are they passionate about software development but they also watch it translate. for quality when the code is delivered. It is with complete confidence that I highly recommend it to Divisio “. — Isharna Walsh (CEO Coral)

“Having worked with Coral and his team, made me have contact with challenges that I’ve never had before. Building a product is different from building a service. Developing a product has its own challenges, such as: putting it on the market, assembling the right team and selling effectively to its users. Within the Coral team, I dealt with many areas, not just with software engineers. Having contact with these areas and all the challenges overcome, made us learn a lot. Coral believes and invests a lot in its product, which makes things happen. They will go even further.” — Rodrigo Wippel (CTO Divisio)
