Introducing The Division J Council for 2017/2018
A new Toastmasters year has begun. With each year, a new set of leaders take up roles in the many different positions of the organization. For the upcoming year of 2017 & 2018, twelve individuals have taken up the responsibilities of supporting the clubs of Division J of District 82. Together they make up the Division J Council for 2017 & 2018.
Division Director — TM Shiham Nawaz
He works for Virtusa Corporation as the Global Head of Operations for Business Process Management. TM Shiham Nawaz began his Toastmasters journey in 2010 as a charter member of Virtusa CMB Toastmasters Club. On this journey he has served as a Club President, was a past Area Governor of Area J2, Assistant Division Director — Program Quality and Assistant Division Director Club Growth — Division J. He now takes up the mantle of the Division Director — Division J.
Assistant Division Director for Club Growth and Chief Judge Coordinator — DTM Moditha Attanagoda
He is an Executive of the Compliance Dept. at Hatton National Bank. He began his Toastmasters journey 10 years ago at HNB Toastmasters Club. On this journey he has served as a Club President, Area Director of Area J1 and Assistant Division Director Program Quality — Division J. He now takes up the dual responsibilities of being the Chief Judge Coordinator and Assistant Division Director Club Growth — Division J.
Assistant Division Director for Program Quality — TM Nisal Weerakoon
TM Nisal Weerakoon entered the world of Toastmasters at APIIT Toastmasters Club. On his leadership journey in Toastmasters he has served in the District 82 Public Relations Team, was the Charter President of Voice of Colombo Toastmasters Club, which was a Presidents Distinguished Club during his tenure. He’s also the former Area Director for Area J2, which was a Presidents Distinguished Area during his tenure. He now takes up the role of Assistant Division Director Program Quality — Division J.
Area Director for Area J1 — TM Thanuja Jayasinghe
Toastmasters has continuously helped TM Thanuja Jayasinghe grow over the years since she first walked into HNB Toastmasters Club. Over the years she has served in various leadership roles. The experience from these roles molded her into a Club President that helped her club achieve Presidents Distinguished status. As Area Director — Area J1 she hopes to guide every club in Area J1 to achieve Presidents Distinguished status.
Area Director for Area J2 — TM Hingston Lovell
TM Hingston Lovell is an Associate Consultant — QA at Virtusa. He began his journey into the world of Toastmasters in 2014 at Virtusa CMB Toastmasters Club. He’s also a member of Pinnacle Advanced Toastmasters Club. He is the Immediate Past President of Virtusa CMB Toastmasters Club and has served in the District 82 Public Relations for two consecutive terms. This year he’ll be serving as the Area Director — Area J2.
Area Director for Area J3 — TM Vikum Jayarathne
Currently working at Nestle, Vikum is a member of the Panadura Toastmasters Club who has a passion for learning and thirst for knowledge. He joined Toastmasters in 2013 and has served as the Vice President of Public Relations and as the Club President. He believes in helping the members and the club grow in turn helps your own growth. This year, he will be taking the responsibility of being the Area Director — Area J3.
Area Director for Area J4 — TM Demitha Harangala
Demitha joined Toastmasters in 2012 as a member of BEPZ Toastmasters Club. His journey into leadership began in 2014 when he took up the role of Vice President of Membership. Afterwards, he served as the Vice President of Education and is the Immediate Past President of BEPZ Toastmasters Club. This year, he’ll be serving as the Area Director — Area J4.
Division Public Relations Manager — TM Mazin Hussain
TM Mazin is a writer by trade as the editor of ReadMe — Sri Lanka’s leading technology media platform. He began his Toastmasters journey at APIIT Toastmasters Club two years ago. On his Toastmasters journey he has served in the District 82 Public Relations Team, was the Club Secretary and is the Immediate Past President of APIIT Toastmasters Club. This year he will be serving as the Division J Public Relations Manager.
Division Finance Manager — TM Chaturanga Ranasinghe
TM Chaturanga is a Chemical Engineer who moved into finance. Today, he is a Deputy Manager in the Internal Audit Department of PLC. He joined Toastmasters last year as a charter member of PLC Toastmasters Club. Previously, he was its Charter Treasurer and is currently serving as the Club President. TM Chaturanga will be serving as the Division Finance Manager for 2017/2018.
Division Administrative Manager — TM Maheksha Perera
At the very young age of 10, Maheksha wanted to join Toastmasters while competing in the All-Island Inter-School Best Speaker Contest that was held in 2013. She then joined Toastmasters in 2013 through the Best Speaker Contest organized by HNB. After joining HNB Toastmasters Club, she went onto serve as its Secretary in 2015/2016. TM Maheksha now takes the next step in her leadership journey as the Division Administrative Manager.
TLI Chair — TM Udara Viduranga
TM Udara describes himself as a HR Manager at CBSL Foods who is a social butterfly that likes to drive fast. He was the charter Vice President of Education of CBSL Foods Toastmasters Club and is its immediate Past President. This year, TM Udara will serve as the TLI chair for Division J.
Immediate Past Division Director / Club Extension Chair & SpeechCraft Coordinator — TM Sanjeewa Fonseka
TM Sanjeewa is a banker by trade who runs his own training company: SSPARK Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. He joined Toastmasters on the 1st of August 2010 and has held many positions. His leadership journey began when he was elected as the Club Treasurer of Panadura Toastmasters Club for 2011/2012 and then went onto serve as its Club President in the following year. He then served as the Area Governor for Area J3 in 2013/2014. Afterwards, he served as both the Assistant Division Director for Club Growth and Program Quality before assuming the role of Division Director for 2016/2017. TM Sanjeewa is now the Immediate Past Division Director / Club Extension Chair & SpeechCraft Coordinator.
