Introducing The Division J Council for 2018/2019

Each Toastmasters year begins with new members taking up new leadership position within the organization, to enhance their leadership skills and also give back to the community that gave so much for them. And this year is no difference. Division J of District 82 is ready than ever with the enthusiastic, passionate and a driven bunch of members serving in the division council, to take the Division towards excellence.

Division Director — DTM Moditha Attanagoda

DTM Moditha Attanagoda has been a toastmaster for the past 11 years and working as an Executive of the Compliance Dept at Hatton National Bank.He began his journey in toastmasters on the year of 2015 at HNB Toastmasters Club. Within that time span he’s served as the Club President, Area Director of Area J1,Chief Judge Coordinator of Division J, Assistant Division Director for both Club Growth and Program Quality — Division J. And this year he’s taking up the position of Division Director of Division J.

Assistant Division Director for Program Quality and DCP Chair — DTM Nuwan Wijesinghe

DTM Nuwan Wijesinghe has been a toastmaster since year 2009 and has a long list of accomplishments within the toastmasters fraternity. He has held the executive positions of VP Education, VP Public Relations, VP Membership, Treasurer and Sargent At Arms within HNB Toastmasters Club. He got recognized as a Distinguished Toastmaster in 2017 as the youngest DTM in HNB Toastmasters Club. Currently he’s attached to Payments and Cash Management Division under Corporate Banking of HNB. He was the Area Director J1 in 2016/17 and got recognized as a President’s Distinguished Area Director in that year. He was the Division J winner and District Finalist in D82 Humorous Speech Contest 2012

Assistant Division Director for Club Growth — Hingston Lovel

TM Hingston is one of the most popular figures among toastmasters of District 82. He began his journey in Toastmasters in the year of 2014 at Virtusa Toastmasters Club. Currently he’s working as a QA consultant at Virtusa, and has held the positions of Secretary, VP Education, President at Virtusa CMB Toastmasters Club throughout the years. He was awarded, Outstanding Toastmaster of the year within the Division J, for the year 2015/16. Current VP PR at Pinnacle Advanced TMC, He was the Area J2 director 2017/18 and has taken up the Assistant Division Director for Club Growth for 2018/19.

Area Director for Area J1 — TM Chamala Warakaulle

Chamala has been in toastmasters since 2015 and held the executive positions of Treasurer, VP Education and President at her home club HNB Toastmasters Club. Working as an Executive at HNB Credit Admin Operations, Chamala loves to travel often, specially to the wild and enjoy the life to the fullest. This year she has taken up the challenge of becoming the Area Director of Area J1.

Area Director for Area J2— TM Harshan Senadhira

Currently working as a Project Manager at LSEG Technology (formerly known as Millennium IT), TM Harshan is one of the most driven toastmasters among the division. He has emerged multiple times as the Division Champion in multiple contests. He won the humorous speech contest of the Division in 2013 and the table topic contest in the years 2016 and 2018. He’s been in toastmasters since 2013, being attached to SLIM Toastmasters Club where he has held the executive positions of VP PR and President during that time. Been the Division PR Manager in 2014/15 and he was the SLIM toastmaster of the year in 2015. Apart from being a very active toastmaster, he’s also very much into vehicles. He believes that it’s his life and he does things his way. And this year he’ll be serving as the Area Director of Area J2.

Area Director for Area J3 — TM Chathuranga Ratnasinghe

TM Chathuranga comes from a background of audit and finance. He works as a manager at PLC ( People’s Leasing & Finance PLC) in the internal audit department. Being a toastmaster since 2016, he was the charter treasurer in 2016/17, became the VP Education in the same year and was the president of PLC Toastmasters Club where he carried the club towards president distinguished for the first time. He believes in the saying “Never Say Never” and embarking on the challenge of being the Area Director of J3 in 2018/19.

Area Director for Area J4 — TM Nuwan Chathuranga

TM Nuwan Chathuranga was the immediate past president of Serendib Toastmasters Club. He was a member at his club since March 2012 where he’s been the VP Education and VP Public Relations along those years. He works as an Assistant Manager at Colombo Stock Exchange under Market Development and as a lecturer in Economics. His quote about life is “Live this moment” and this year he has taken up the challenge of being the Area Director of Area J4.

Division Administrative Manager — Sivapriya Vithyatharan

A Software Engineering graduate from APIIT (Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology), TM Sivapriya is an active member of APIIT Toastmasters Club, where she’s held the executive positions of VP Education and President at the Club. She was the Toastmaster of the year at APIIT in 2016 and achieved Triple Crown for completing CL, ACB & ALB in 2017. She’s been teaching Advanced Level Mathematics for the past 5 years and quite fond of event planning. And this year she’s taken up the challenge of being the Administrative Manager for Division J.

Division Finance Manager — Maheksha Perera

Maheksha has been quite fond of toastmasters from a very young age and competed in the All-Island Inter-School Best Speaker Contest that was held in 2013. She joined Toastmasters in 2013 through the Best Speaker Contest organized by HNB. Being an active member at HNB Toastmasters Club, she went on becoming the Secretary of the club in 2015/16 and held the leadership position of Division Administration Manager in 2017/2018. TM Maheksha is ready as ever to take up the position of Finance Manager of Division Manager for the year 2018/19.

Division Public Relations Manager — TM Ahamed Huzaim

TM Huzaim has been an active member of Virtusa CMB Toastmasters club since last September 2017. A graduate of SLIIT (Sri Lanka Institute Of Information Technology), and working as a Software Engineer at Virtusa. He’s much interested in the study of human psychology and believes that life is a journey where we should enjoy every moment. Currently bearing the officer role of VP Public Relations for the year 2018/19, he will be serving as the Division Public Relations Manager for he year 2018/19.

TLI Chair Coordinator and Mentor Pool Chair — TM Shiham Ali

TM Shiham Ali is working as a Technical Project Manager at Tiqri Pvt Ltd and has been in toastmasters fraternity for the past 6 years. He started his journey in toastmasters in 2013 with Fusion Toastmasters Club. He has held the executive committee positions of VP Education at Fusion as well as Sergeant at Arms, Secretary and currently serving as the VP Education of Voice of Colombo Toastmasters Club. He has won the triple crown award in toastmasters and believes that “Difficult Roads often lead to beautiful destinations”. Thus he has decided to expand his limits by serving as the TLI Chair Coordinator and Mentor Pool Chair for the Division J in 2018/19.

Pathways Coordinator — TM Thilina Bandara

Thilina found his passion of working with people and upgrading their lives through public speaking and training through PIM Toastmasters club. At the inception of the club 3 years back, he held the charter VP Education role and subsequent year became the president. He is a competitive speaker and by profession a passionate Electronics Engineer at Zone24x7 pvt Ltd. Thilina loves teaching where he currently works as a visiting lecturer for few local universities transforming lives of students. He follows the quote of Dr.Abdul Kalam, “Dreams are NOT that you see in sleep, Dreams are that doesn’t let you sleep”. Leading by example, he’s one of the first members to complete Level 1 in Pathways program in the Division and he’s the Pathways Coordinator for the Division J in 2018/19.

Immediate Past Division Director and SpeechCraft Coordinator — DTM Shiham Nawaz

TM Shiham Nawaz is one of the oldest members at Virtusa CMB Toastmasters Club, where he began his journey in the year 2010. He has served as the Club President, Area Governor of Area J2, Assistant Division Director — Program Quality , Assistant Division Director Club Growth — Division J, and the immediate past Division Director of Division J. He’s the Global Head of Operations for Business Process Management at Virtusa Corporation and in the quest of a never ending journey, he’s taken up the council position of being the SpeechCraft Coordinator for Division J in 2018/19.
