Idea: Swipe up to reply to Snapchat Story with press to record audio/video then release to send from top of screen (#112)

Purpose is to make available ability to reply options that are part of Chat 2.0. Or include these buttons just above the text input box.

Start on someone’s Story, then swipe up to reply which causes audio and video note options to appear, then press and hold on video to record video of your front facing camera then release to send. Otherwise could have pressed to make audio note or one tap on audio for audio call or one tap on video for video call. Designed by D.J. Sherrets.

Snapchat today:

  • Snapchat Chat 2.0 enables sending audio and video notes by pressing to record and releasing to send.

Proposed idea:

  1. Start on viewing a Story. Swipe up to reply.
  2. Press and hold on video to record a video of your front facing camera then release to cause the video to be sent.

Comments:

  • Opportunity is to make easy to send back audio and video notes with context of someone’s Snapchat Story.
  • May be easier to put as buttons just above the keyboard because of being able to reach to that part of the screen easier than touching the top of the screen.
  • Video front facing camera preview needs to appear without being covered by the hand, so video preview could appear more to the middle.
