Tap to take a photo, tap “Add to Story”, tap “Add to NYC Story” and tap again to unselect, tap “Post” to completing adding to your Story which takes you to the Stories view, then swipe to go back to Camera, tap to take a photo, tap to “Add to Story” then tap in place to “Post” which again posts your Story and takes you to the Stories screen. ”Designed by D.J. Snapchat today:

  • Posting to your Story can be oftentimes as simple as just tapping the “Add to Story” button.
  • However, tapping “Add to Story” when in a place that has a Local Story or an Event Story includes an extra step where there’s a prompt to consider selecting the options of picking a Local Story and/or Event story, and the button to send is in the lower right so that requires the user moving their finger in order to post to Story.

Proposed idea:

  1. Tap to make photo. Note buttons for “Add to Story” and the arrow button. Arrow button takes you to a screen to select “Add to Story”, any other available Stories to share to, and any individual friends to send.
  2. Tap “Add to Story.” Button stays in place so for simplicity you could just tap again in place to add to your Story, or you could tap to add to any available local Story.
  3. Tap to “Add to NYC Story.”
  4. Tap again to unselect “Add to NYC Story.”
  5. Tap “Post” to complete adding to your Story only.
  6. Swipe to return to Camera.
  7. Tap to make photo.
  8. Tap to “Add to Story.”
  9. Tap in place to “Post.”

Comments:

  • Opportunity is to enable the user to tap in place if they choose to not post to Local Stories or Event Stories. This is particularly relevant probably because most people probably choose to only post to their Story rather than posting to Local Stories or Event Stories.
  • Consider what the impact is of the change on how many people tend to add to a Local or Event Story after the change.
