Idea: Three quick swipes to open filter selection on Snapchat photo/video (#33)

Purpose is to enable people to select from one of many different filters without having to swipe through filters one at a time, while still not using additional interface space.

Make a video, swipe through filters, then do 3 quick swipes to open the filter selector, then tap on a filter to load that. Designed by D.J. Sherrets.

Snapchat today:

  • Users can make a photo or video, then swipe either side to go through a list of options for filters.

Proposed idea:

  1. Make a video.
  2. Swipe slow through a few options of filters.
  3. Swipe quickly through 3 filters. On the third swipe, the filter rebounds against the side of the screen and the filter selector opens.
  4. Look at the filter selection options. Tap on the bottom right filter, and that filter loads on the video.

Comments:

  • Alternatively could use two quick swipes, but I think three quick swipes indicates a user really is trying to get through multiple filters to get to a particular filter they want to use.
Make video, swipe to “New York City” filter…
…then swipe to weather filter, then swipe to red filter, then start quick swiping to yellow…
…then quick swipe to blue then quick swipe rebounds and causes a filter selector to appear, then tap on the purple filter to load that. Designed by D.J. Sherrets.
