Great news for the open data community: CivicActions is taking over core product responsibility for DKAN!

As one of the original DKAN co-founders, I’m really excited about this. CivicActions is technically strong, experienced and organizationally committed in many key areas for DKAN project leadership:

  • absolute commitment to open, collaboratively-built software, including active contribution to numerous open source communities
  • enterprise procurement, services, and support experience serving some of the largest and most complex governments in the world
  • long-standing experience delivering on complex open data and data visualization use cases
  • track record of successfully driving Agile process on government projects

I’ve known the CivicActions team for a long time and am thrilled they are assuming DKAN product leadership from Granicus, including support to many of the Granicus Open Data clients, and welcoming the DKAN-focused staff to its team.

I’d also like to thank Granicus for their years of generous support of the project, as well as their enablement of this great new chapter for DKAN by handing the core product reins over to CivicActions.

To learn more about the DKAN transition, read the release, and please join me in engaging with the CivicActions team and the broader DKAN Community:
