09.11.2024. flash poem

i’m not used to relying on people,
but i’ve come to rely on your presence.

i’m not used to people knowing everything about me,
but you seem to have found out everything.

i’m not used to people giving me second chances,
but you offered me forgiveness and a chance to grow.

i’m not used to people having patience for the way i react,
but you’ve given me the patience and time to settle into myself.

i’m not used to people speaking to me in my language,
but i feel so much delight every time it happens.

i’m not used to being in something i’m afraid to lose,
but i’m afraid now of losing our connection.

i’m not used to being okay with not having control,
but i’m learning it is important in life to give it up sometimes.

i’m not used to trusting anyone,
but i trust you.
