The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Spikers (2–1) secured their second victory of the season by demonstrating unwavering team effort against the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons (0–2) in the UAAP Season 86 Beach Volleyball tournament, earlier today at the Sands SM by the Bay.

Following their recent defeat against the NU Bulldogs yesterday, the Green Spikers aimed to secure their second win of the season heading into the match. La Salle began the first set with an Andre Espejo spike and a Vince Maglinao service ace, making a statement with a 4–3 lead. The Taft-based duo then demonstrated their effort by initiating a 3–0 run against the Soaring Falcons, 8–5. The Lasallian squad continued to establish dominance in the set through a series of deadly attacks and service aces courtesy of Maglinao, leading to a 13–8 advantage as they entered the first technical timeout (TTO). La Salle’s formidable dominance persisted, resulting in a seven-point advantage that gave them the confidence to maintain their point-winning streak. With Maglinao securing the set point, a service error by Adamson provided the Green Spikers with a set advantage, 21–13.

Aiming to secure the match, Espejo initiated the second set with a killer block, followed by back-to-back Maglinao attacks and a service ace, taking La Salle to a 5–0 lead before the first timeout of the set. With Espejo’s consistent dominance at the net and Maglinao’s compelling combination of attacks and defense, the Green and White maintained a substantial lead throughout most of the set, 14–7. Then Adamson mounted a comeback, narrowing La Salle’s lead to six at 18–12. The Taft-based squad however, did not falter as they maintained their determination to get to set point before an Espejo point secured the set and the match, 21–12.

Kapitan Maglinao’s statement reflected his excitement and joy, expressing that they enjoyed the game, ultimately leading to victory.

We want to enjoy the game as much as possible and we want to learn every game para madala namin sa mga susunod pa naming mga game,” he stated.

Despite the Green Spikers’ victory, Maglinao emphasized that aspects of the game required improvement.

Kahit sa anong game namin, win or lose, there’s still room for improvement sa amin, lalo na sa galaw namin sa court. We have to master ung mga galaw namin kasi, syempre, ung mga kalaban namin, hindi basta basta. Sobrang gagaling nila. Kailangan lang namin matuto and apply each and everything [in the game].”

Come and support the Green Spikers as they face off against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Spikers tomorrow, November 19, 10 AM, at the same venue.

Set Scores: 21–13, 21–12
