The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Tennisters yielded to the National University (NU) Men’s Tennis Team, 2–3, earlier today, at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

This followed a tough series of defeats, including losses against the University of the East Red Warriors (1-4) and the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons (2-3) in their recent showings last March 3rd.

The two victors of the day were team captain EJ Geluz and the doubles pairing of Enzo Enriquez and Leyton Portin, each scoring 6–4, 6–3, and 6–4, 6–2 respectively.

Geluz was the first of the day to set foot on the court, starting the Green Tennisters off on the right foot with his victory against Miguel Vicencio in the first singles match. This victory was unfortunately not followed up by Brysl Libao and RJ Virrey, who came close to a deuce with Allen Manlangit and Gab Bandoquillo, with a tie in the second set at 6–6. The game eventually came to a close with a score of 3–6, 6–7(1).

After a tough second singles loss on the side of Ohye Tortal, who lost to EJ Tugade with a score of 2–6, 2–6, Enriquez and Portin got past Agil Balaoing and Benedict Santiago with a 6–4, 6–2 tally.

These efforts proved not to be enough as Nonoy Po bowed to Ibarra Ortega in the final singles match for the Green and White. Po was overwhelmed with a near shutout at 1–6, 0–6.

The Green Tennisters look forward to another shot at redemption on March 17, Saturday, 7:30 AM at the same venue as they face the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Men’s Lawn Tennis Team.
