The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Archers (0–3) suffered their third heartbreaking loss at the hands of the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigresses (3–0), 57–91, earlier today at the UST Quadricentennial Pavillion.

It was Catherine Dionisio who delivered the first blow for the Tigresses while Luisa De La Paz shot the first bullseye for La Salle. Good on the rebound, UST managed to unleash treys early in the quarter, 2-8. Meanwhile, the Lady Archers struggled to break through the walls of España, which forced them beyond the arc on their scoring attempts. UST's tenacious defense further resulted in numerous turnovers in just the first quarter. The decisive jab that increased UST's lead to 10-32, came from Ana Tacatac's 3-pointer until eventually, Bea Dalisay's failed trey attempt ended the quarter in favor of UST, 12-35.

In the second kanto, it started raining threes on both sides of the court following Rocel Dionisio’s basket, 12-37. But the Tigresses were hesitant to give the Archers even a slight chance to chip at their double-digit advantage, 20-40, despite back-to-back treys from Lee Sario after the five-minute mark, 26-43. The Tigresses further maintained their 20-pt lead, 29-49, thanks to Tacatac's constant shooting from beyond the arc, while La Salle was limited to free throws until Elizabeth Delos Reyes' layup served as the final arrow before halftime, 36-54.

Tacatac struck the first pounce of the third quarter once again for UST, 36-56. After three minutes of scoring drought following Aji Bojang’s charities, 38-56, Brigette Santos and Luisa San Juan exchanged treys, 41-59. Eventually, Tacatac’s back-to-back treys widened the trench to a devastating 25-pt lead, 42-67. Despite Dalisay’s attempts to narrow the gap following a final layup from Dionisio, the Lady Archers surrendered the third quarter to the Tigresses, 46-70.

Coming into the final quarter, it was Angelika Soriano who continued to strike for UST with consistent treys, 46-73, and another basket from beyond the arc courtesy of Soriano gave UST its 30-pt advantage, 48-78. Unfortunately, the Lady Archers experienced a scoring drought in the form of air balls throughout the quarter. Tricia Mendoza’s field goal attempts to keep La Salle afloat, 57-85, were not enough against Soriano and Apple Maglupay’s points on the paint, 57-87. Santos’ layup was the final blow that sent the Archers home riddled with wounds and a heartbreaking third loss, 57-91.

The DLSU Lady Archers aim to snatch their first win against the Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons on Wednesday, October 11, 11AM, at the Adamson University Gym.
