In a commanding display of skill and determination, the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Booters secured a resounding 3–0 shutout against the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons yesterday, at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.

With consecutive victories under their belt, the Lady Booters solidified their position at the summit of the standings, amassing six points and boasting an impressive goal difference of plus-8.

Maria Layacan showcased her exceptional scoring ability by finding the back of the net in the 8th and 80th minutes of the match, bringing her personal tally to four goals for the season. She also emerged with the Player of the Match honors.

Though Head Coach Alvin Ocampo lauded Layacan’s performance, highlighting her emergence as a key contributor to the team’s success, he also emphasized the Lady Booters’ collective role, stating that “We were able to manage the win. Our objective is to secure the first round to be one step into the final.”

Adding to the scoring spree, defender Maye Mendaño capitalized on UP’s defensive vulnerabilities with a well-timed goal in the 25th minute, underscoring DLSU’s complete dominance throughout the encounter.

Looking forward, DLSU sets its sights on extending their winning streak as they prepare to face the University of Santo Tomas in a highly anticipated showdown next Saturday at 4PM on the same pitch.
