The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Shuttlers gain another win in a showdown against the Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons, 5–0, yesterday at the Centro Atletico Badminton Court in Quezon City.

The girls in Green and White did not back down to the Falcons as they eased their way to glory in their games. Adamson had their close calls but La Salle shut them down before they could catch up.

Mia Manguilimotan dominated the first singles game against Camille Buagas. Manguilimotan gave no time for Buagas to regain her footing as she led both matches and ended strong. With a 11–7 lead in the first half, Manguilimotan overwhelmed Buagas, having a final 7–0 run to secure the match, 21–10, 21–12.

The second singles match was another powerful win for DLSU’s Ghiselle Bautista. Patricia Timosa struggled to catch up the moment that Bautista was on the scoring run. The first game ended at 21–13 with Timosa trying to find her rhythm after an 11-point lead on Bautista’s end. The second match was a breeze for the Lasallian, who scored a barrage of kills, knocking the air out of Timosa, who was not even able to reach double digits.

The first doubles match-up caused a little trouble with the Falcons. Winning her first game, Manguilimotan was definitely on a roll along with partner Jacqueline Pantoja as they swept the court during their first match against AdU’s Ivy Plata and Jan Ching. DLSU started with a bang, immediately leading 12–4, and ending the match, 21–8. Plata got injured during the second match which caused the Falcons to retire and finish the game at 12–6 in favor of La Salle.

Palma Cruz and May Minuluan had their time to shine winning a three match game against the competitive Falcons Buagas and Graziel Cabriga. Although the Lady Shuttlers lead and ended strong in the first, 21–10, the Falcons attempted redemption in the second game, 17–21. The third was a bit of a back and forth play until La Salle had a nine point run in the late game, ending the game, 21–8, and the match, 2–1.

Their final win was a interesting match-up with La Salle’s Palma Cruz and Adamson’s Althea Bartolazo. The first game saw a close encounter as both took turns in gaining points with the game favoring Adamson. This was until Cruz stopped Bartolazo with a three point run and gained the upperhand in the latter game causing the score to end at 21–19 in favor of the Green and White. With the momentum on her side, Cruz led from beginning to end, securing the victory, 21–10.

Watch the DLSU Lady Shuttlers once more as they go against the UP Fighting Maroons today, November 6, 1P.M., at the same venue.
