Locations and Settings
For the stories of my life
The Kariba Road neighborhood of Ndola is located in Zambia’s Copperbelt district, in Equitorial Africa. Communities of ex-patriots live there.
- Kariba House (front garden). The soil is bright orange. Ginger is our dog. There is a tree house. There are chameleons.
- Kariba House (back yard). Two locals live here and farm the land.
Blaineroe estate is a quiet coastal residential community in Wicklow, Ireland. Many of the homes are weekend-summer homes.
- Blainroe Farm and Fields surrounds half the housing estate. We play with hay bales and collect conkers from the briararies.
- Blainroe Golf Course and Rough surround half the housing estate. We hunt in the rough for lost golf balls to sell back to golfers. We caddy.
- Blainroe Beach is a small sandy cove with surrounded by craggy rocks and grassy hills. There is a cave and a stream. The water is cold.
- Steep hill. A quiet, straight stretch of tarmac. We race down it sitting on our skateboards.
- Grandmother’s House (Kitchen). Gas-powered, and with glass brick walls. There is a cool room and a dining table.
- Grandmother’s House (Patio). Enclosed from the wind on all sides. There is lavender. There are wasps.
- Summer house (living room). Open plan to the kitchen and dining area, with westerly windows and an open fireplace.

Wicklow mountains is a relatively undisturbed area of natural history beauty, near to Dublin, centred on the Wicklow Way
West of ireland includes Dingle town and youth hostel, Derrynan boathouse, the Skelligs, the Arran Islands and the Burren.
Stirling includes Stirling town and Stirling University campus.

The tree house is high up on stilts in the front garden of Kariba Road.
The nursery school garden has a pool with turtles in it.
Foxrock Church and Community Centre is near Beach Park. It includes the church, the altar, the vestry, the community hall, the car park and the bridge.
