The Grilles (and railings) of Calcutta
Calcutta is full of old buildings; big and small, still standing tall and some almost about to crumble. Besides the architectural beauty of some of these what caught my attention more this time around were the grilles and railings of some of these houses.
They seem to have so much more aesthetic value to them than the new ones I have been seeing all over the place. Maybe previously more people tried to think and make compared today when everything has to be created fast and like something seen somewhere else.
Here are some from New Alipore with more from Golf Green and the Lake area coming soon in the next few days.
Thanks to my friend Rangan Bhattacharya for discussing with me how I could draw these without making them bland.
More coming soon.
