A VERY JEWISH LISTICLE
From The Shtetl Blasters to the Moody Jews
Klezmer Bands With Clever Names
Klezmer, a.k.a. “Jewish Soul Music,” is a form of instrumental music that originated among European Ashkenazi Jews. Upbeat party music, Klezmer is often played at weddings, Bat Mitzvahs and other festive events.
Because we Jews are a clever people and Klezmer is a uniquely Jewish form of music, it makes sense that many Klezmer bands have clever names. Here are a few of my favorites:
Mazel Tov Cocktail
Brave Old World
The Red Sea Pedestrians
The Klezmer Mountain Boys
The Shtetl Blasters
The Moody Jews
Oy Division
Little Shop of Horas
The Klez Dispensers
The Chopped Liver River Band
Yid Vicious
Black Sabbath Hat
Matzoh the Hoople
The Mamas and the Tatas
They Might be Golems
The Mazeltones
The Isle of Klezbos
The Jews Brothers
