Was your New Year’s Resolution to sully a beloved American cartoon character? Boy do I have excellent news.

Mickey Mouse is free! American copyright law only upholds copyrights for 95 years. Thus, on January 1st 2024, the iconic rodent originally created by Walt Disney in 1928 was released from the shackles of the Walt Disney Corporation.

Public domain Mickey is now a thing, and since this beloved cartoon character is no longer forced to adhere to a corporate friendly image, the possibilities are endless.*

*Endless possibilities are defined here as six or seven possibilities, that being as high as the author can count.
