Making New Year’s Resolutions You Can Keep
Low self-esteem and even lower expectations are the key
It’s that time of year again: the dreaded New Year’s resolution.
In theory, there’s nothing wrong with taking stock of your life, identifying a few spots where you might be able to improve, and setting a few attainable goals. Except, in taking stock of our lives, most of us realize we’ve settled into a rut of failure, regret, and disappointment. So we set goals for insignificant cosmetic fixes, and when we inevitably can’t achieve those or abandon them altogether before we even begin, we feel even worse about ourselves.
How is that a good start to a new year?
To correct all of this, I’ve identified a few simple resolutions anyone can achieve with practically no planning, discipline, or even effort. In fact, you won’t even have to remember you made them.
Stay Fat
Just because social pressure, common sense, and your doctor say you should lose an extra five, ten, or sixty pounds doesn’t mean you have to start now. Fruits, veggies, grains, and moderation aren’t going anywhere, but the rest of that cake in the break room is. Better you snatch it before Linda from billing hears about it. Besides, who…
