For the first nine months of my life, I lived in a house with 12 other dogs and 2 cats. I’ve written about that household before.

The cats were indoor-outdoor cats. I got to know these two lovely critters, especially when all of the puppies — two litters of Tibbies and Welsh Springer Spaniels — were let outside to do their business. We had a lot of fun running in the yard and chasing each other. While I spent more time inside of a crate during those first 9 months of life, there were times that I got to chase the cats in the house. It was fun. I liked them and they liked me…how do I know this? They came up to my crate, peered in and tried to engage me in play with their paws.

Those experiences with cats are seared in my memory cells. I remember that play time fondly. That was almost seven years ago.

I don’t have any more cat friends. I tried making friends with neighborhood cats since I moved in with my current humans, Linda & Peter. We go on lots of walks- I love being outside; I love going on walks and meeting new friends, especially cats.

There are feral cats in our neighborhood. Some of them even hang out in our back yard during the night. I can smell them when I’m let out in the yard in the early morning. I’ve even chased a few — in order to meet them. But they do not like being…
