On Death

If I die today, forget me.
Not because you don’t love me.
But because I love you.
Do not walk through life with your head down.
I’m home now.
There’s no reason to cry for unsaid words.
I know. Trust that I know.
Throw a big party. Celebrate.
Tell my crazy, embarrassing, and beautiful stories.
Then forget me. I give you permission.
When I become a distant memory and you feel guilty for forgetting.
Let it go. I give you permission.
Build a new and beautiful life.
Tell a new and beautiful story.
I love you my darlings.
