Today AllWithBooks launches on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter, starting with a $20 early special. AllWithBooks is a social enterprise that co-creates children’s books featuring the stories of people living in communities in need to help build them libraries with every book sale.

SEE CAMPAIGN

The first project is a collection of 10 children’s books inspired by the true stories of the people from Katab, a Mayan community in southern Mexico. Every sale helps build a library in Katab, and the customers can help choose the books for the library.

Each story is written to help the reader experience Katab’s culture and daily life through the eyes of the people who live here. Five stories feature male leading characters and five feature female leading characters.

“We want to make books available to every child by connecting readers from around the world. That is why we are writing children’s books with the help of the community and the stories the people living in Katab shared with us. With every book sale, we can build a library in Katab and fill it with the books the customers chose. This way, you will view the world of a person from Katab through one of our books, and the person from Katab can view your world through your favorite book. I believe a book can change the world, and right now there are more than 100 million children without access to books or who can’t read. That is why our purpose is to make books available to every child in the world. After a year of testing different books, models, and talking to the people from Katab, we are excited to share this idea with the Kickstarter community and together turn this idea into a reality.”

While there are many children’s books out there, AllWithBooks children’s books are unique. Each book is inspired by true stories. A few tell of the Mayan culture, others about their life harvesting honey, and some even of their daily lives and challenges. With every sale, a library can start to be built and the customer can help by choosing a book for the library.

AllWithBooks hopes to raise $20,000 in 30 days to print the first 1,000 book sets and to build a library in Katab. I hope you can help us reach our goal and make books available to every child!
