It’s tough to argue against calling Edward Norton one of the greatest actors of his generation. In fact, it would be difficult to argue against calling Norton the greatest actor of his generation. With two Academy Award Nominations for his roles in Primal Fear and American History X, in addition to timeless classics including Fight Club, Rounders and The People vs. Larry Flynt, finding a list of disappointments on his resume can be a rather arduous task.

I never associated Edward Norton with surfing however until the documentary Bustin’ Down The Door was released a couple of years ago, with Norton the narrator of the film. That film peaked the curiosity of many surfers, including myself, into not only how and why Norton was associated with the documentary that exposed the sport’s revolutionary shortboard era of the 1970’s, but also whether Norton himself is a surfer.

Norton’s passion about the environment has never been in question. Norton helped co-found the website Crowdrise.com that helps raise funds for numerous charities, with Norton’s causes focused primarily on environmental issues. In addition to his main passion of helping preserve the Maasai Wilderness Conservation, Norton recently used Crowdrise.com to help promote an auction of an autographed surfboard with proceeds going towards the Surfrider Foundation. The more you research Edward Norton…
