Rob Dyrdek is arguably the biggest name in skateboarding today. Before partnering up with Jackass director Jeff Tremaine to create the hit reality TV show Rob & Big that made Dyrdek a household name, only core skateboarding aficionados knew Dyrdek as one of skateboarding’s premiere riders.

The thing is, while most people who know of Dyrdek these days know him for his comedic antics and freestyle lyrics on his reality TV shows, there’s something else about Dyrdek that many people don’t know, yet should know.

Dyrdek can skate. Really skate.

Dyrdek was born and raised in Kettering, Ohio, where he started skateboarding at the age of 12. Dyrdek quickly made a name for himself as a skateboarding phenom, skipping his senior year of high school to become a professional skateboarder and founding the Alien Workshop skateboard team. Shortly thereafter he moved to San Diego, where he joined the DC Shoes skateboarding team and quickly became one of the top street skateboarders in the world.

It wasn’t until Rob & Big however that Dyrdek reached mainstream success. Dyrdek has since gone on to create multiple reality television programs, numerous skateboarding companies, and founded Street League, which has quickly become the premier competitive skateboarding association.
