With COVID-19 resulting in the shutting of most places, Qatar Museums have found a creative and tech-based way to allow the people of Qatar enjoy a different museum experience. Here are a few museums and exhibits that you can tour without leaving the comfort of your home, virtually.

Via Google Cultural Institute, you can look through the pieces of the Museum of Islamic Art and even get a 360 degrees’ view of the Museum. The museum hosts multiple permanent galleries.
They include art from Islamic empires around the world such as the Ottoman, Persian and Indian empires.

Learn more about Mathaf’s permanent collections recount the tale of Arab history, with themes that impact the Arab narrative such as modernity, politics and urbanisation via Google Cultural Institute.

Take a stroll through Doha Fire Station on Google Street View and experience their Artist in Residence exhibit called Dual Inspiration, which Explores the intellectual concepts that revolve around inspiration as a platform.

Umoumah is a virtual exhibition about becoming a mother and the support of the community. A UCL initiative, the website uses interactive elements to show the journey of an expecting mother during three phases: Maitresance, Support and Loss.

The National Museum of Qatar announced the launch of five virtual exhibitions: Splendours of the Ancient East: Antiquities from The al-Sabah Collection, Qatar’s Culinary Journey, Habitats and Shelters, Mal Lawal and NMoQ Creates Together. The exhibitions are all crowd-sourced, giving the people of Qatar a chance to put their artefacts, artwork and experience on display.
