Eighteen-year-old Deirdre Jacob went missing from Newbridge, Co. Kildare on July 28, 1998. Though she had been residing in London, where she attended St. Mary’s University, she had returned home for a summer visit.

Deirdre disappeared mere yards from her family home while returning home from a walk to her bank and the post office, as well as a stop by her grandmother’s shop. Beyond witness accounts of having seen her walking or during her stops, there are no clues as to what may have happened to her in those final moments as she approached her family home.

Described as 5 foot 3 inches tall with a slim build and grey/green eyes and chin-length dark hair, Deirdre was wearing a dark blue T-shirt with white trim on the collar and sleeves, navy or black straight jeans, and blue Nike running shoes. She was carrying a black bag with a yellow Caterpillar Inc. logo that has never been recovered.
