Digital Public Goods: A Humanity-First Approach to a Sustainable Planet
We believe every expression of human creativity is powerful and potentially world-changing. As the DoinGud NFT ecosystem progressively evolves, our collectivistic creations and culture will grow more impactful.
The Web3 movement, which is driven by crypto, is about evolution rather than revolution.
“Evolution cannot be stopped. Revolutions fail all of the time. Think about public goods and purposes that we are all striving for, especially societal purposes — helping the roads, helping the less fortunate, taking care of the environment, having clean water for everybody, having a good economy — these are things that are completely monopolized and controlled by governments. When they fail, nonprofits step in. Nonprofits are the grassroot opposition to governments. They are fulfilling the same value that governments provide in a grassroots way instead of a top-down way.”
― Griff Green, Co-founder of The Commons Stack, Giveth
This profound statement from Griff Green — our trusted advisor, financial contributor and collaborator — draws inspiration from Ostrom’s principles, which state: “Organizing is a process; an organization is the result of that process.” These same principles have encouraged DoinGud’s founders to structure our nonprofit organization to provide a lasting digital service that benefits all parts of society.
What Makes a Public Good
Put simply, a public good is a commodity or service that is available to all members of society. In order to understand what public goods are, let’s take a closer look at their basic criteria.
In the conventional sense, public goods must be:
- non-excludable: it is either too expensive or impossible for an individual to exclude others from using a good.
- non-rivalrous: when an individual uses a good, it does not prevent others from doing so.
As an example, access to clean air and water is a public good.
The UN Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation defines a digital public good as “open source software, open data, open AI models, open standards, and open content that adhere to privacy and other applicable laws and best practices, do no harm, and help attain the SDGs.”
The Evolution Will not Be Televised
With the core values of the open source software movement embedded in Web3, we’re presented with an opportunity to restructure our global economic system from profit-driven to values-driven. This marks the dawn of a positive-sum world — a win-win situation where everyone’s needs are satisfied.
We see DoinGud as a fundamental component of the emerging Web3 ecosystem of public goods.
Aligning incentives between creators, communities, and social causes
Using best practices outlined by The Commons Stack, and Token Engineering Commons, we’re developing a credible and sustainable economic model (as people’s livelihoods may depend on it). This model enables creators, curators, collectors, and entire communities to influence the course of social problems they are passionate about — a symbiotic relationship between all participants of the DoinGud ecosystem.
“Now we have the internet of value, we can send value across a computer network — there’s so many things in society that rely on value transfer — not just speculation and investments, but jobs…insurance. I’m just really excited about the opportunities of reinventing value transfer to be more regenerative.”

Where do we go from here?
DoinGud’s NFT ecosystem has a mission-driven economy in which each NFT sale contributes to a good cause. We’ve created a regenerative market that is altruistic by design, rather than relying on solitary good deeds.
Next, we’re introducing the AMOR token as a means to exchange value and voting power within our ecosystem. AMOR also unlocks utility in the form of features and experiences exclusive to DoinGud, unlike anything else. But, for the time being, we can’t reveal much more. 😉
