New year was approaching and we’ve not gone for a trip recently. We were planning for about a week to visit few temples around the south of Tamil Nadu; but suddenly we decided to visit Bangalore. We just called our relatives there, to confirm their presence and booked a bus for the next day. My husband has never met them and he was eager in making acquaintance with them; even I haven’t met them for a while. Having no idea about the weather there and in spite of them telling that it was very cold, we didn’t take proper dresses except for my sweater. It was early in the morning of Saturday that we got down at the Electronic city bus stop. We booked a cab to my cousin’s place; after struggling to talk to the cab driver who didn’t seem to know English but only Kannada, we reached there in about 5 minutes. We had tea and a nice chat. The time was 7AM but it seemed like it still had not dawned. It was cold and the place was so silent that we could hear the breath of the others. I broke the silence by turning on the TV. We planned to go the famous Iskcon temple though all others except me had gone to that temple before. It was a bit far from home but still we decided to go by bike to avoid traffic.

We had our breakfast and started from home at 11 AM. As we came out of the home, I could feel the sunshine on me, making me comfortable. As it was a bit far from home and we had to travel on the roads with traffic, it made our journey tiring. We reached there in an hour and I was surprised to see the huge crowd. It maybe because we went on the holiday season. The place was neat and clean and the Gods were beautifully decorated with amazing cloths and jewels; Lord Krishna’s and Radha’s statue looked splendid with bright colors. There were huge paintings on the ceiling which was amazing and all part of the temple looked artistic. We sat there along with the other devotees praying and admiring the beauty of the temple. Then we walked around to find small shops selling books, idols and painting materials of Lord Krishna. There were snacks stalls too from which we had some snacks which became our lunch. Then we started from there and reached home by evening. We were already tired and also the cold weather didn’t allow us to move out; so we stayed at home that evening.

The next day, we planned to go to the government museum called ‘The Vishveshwaraya Science Museum’. We started at the same time as the day before but chose to hire a cab instead of going by bike. It was as big museum with 4floors. The first floor consisted of all the physics stuffs like models of pulleys, levers, gears, steam engines, and also the model of The Wright Brother’s aeroplane. Most of them were working models, so all of us were very interested in trying it out. There were many school children who were trying out those with great enthusiasm. The second floor contained the fun science like reflections on the mirror at various angles, magic box etc. By the time we finished visiting these exhibits we were exhausted; not just because of walking around but also because of the crowd. We rested for a while and went to the next floor which contained the olden techniques used for generating electricity and how people used man power and animal power to do things. It was interesting but as were very tired, we didn’t visit the next floor. We were already hungry and so we stopped at Mc Donald’s for our lunch. We ate as slow as we could and spent a long time there till we gained energy to move to the next place.

Then we went to a mall, UB city which was grandly decorated for Christmas. There were many visitors there also, who came just to enjoy the Christmas evening. We walked around the mall, where all the shops seemed luxurious and rich. We took photos of the decoration and ourselves, had a leisure time sitting there and looking at the crowd until it was 6PM and it started becoming cold. So, we got a taxi from there and reached home. That night we had to return to Chennai and our bus will start at 11.55 PM from Electronic city. I was wondering how I’m going to bear the cold that night. Everything I touched was cold, the air that I breath and the water that I drink was also cold; I got throat pain and was waiting to return to Chennai, which made me realize that I’m completely adapted to the Chennai climate. We had our dinner at a nearby restaurant, returned home, packed our things and I wore my sweater and wrapped a shawl around my head. We bid bye to our relatives and got a cab to the bus stop. Luckily the bus wasn’t very late and we traveled back to Chennai with nice memories.
