I start this blog by introducing myself and why I decided to create this publication. Then you’ll read about what you’ll find in this space and, if you wish to write with us, how to submit your work.

Introductions

I’m a qualified IDVA — Independent Domestic Violence Advocate/Advisor, I work for the NHS, in England.

I started this professional journey in August.21 (my background is safeguarding, both children and adults), almost by chance, and I fell in love with it immediately.

I’ve been a Hospital IDVA since December.22 (and I can’t see myself working anywhere else; I truly love it).

I have on my record a few dozen hours of CPD training, and hundreds of hours of workshops, webinars, and professional readings. I invest a lot in my own learning and professional development.

I’m passionate about supporting and advocating for older victim-survivors of domestic abuse, as well as people who are considering or attempted suicide (unfortunately, I meet them regularly).
